Blueberry Bash

This weekend was the Blueberry Bash at the local farm. It is about 5 minutes from the new house. (we close tomorrow and move in on Tuesday!) The Blueberry Bash was something straight out of a country magazine. Guitar music was the back drop to a picturesque view of orchards, fields, red buildings and flowers. Natalie went on her first pony ride and we all took a tractor ride around the farm. We saw chickens, milked a wooden cow and rode mini John Deer tractors. The cider slushies cooled us off and we ate freshly baked cookies for snack. I am so happy to live near such an amazing place.

Fireflies

We came home from dinner one night along a rural road and I was wondering what all the lights were. After seeing so many I realized it wasn't some reflection from our headlights, but instead fireflies! It is so summery to see fireflies over farm fields on a hot night. It sometimes seems perfect here.

all over the State

We have been really busy lately visiting friends and seeing the sights around here. Jani and Kati had us over for dinner on Friday night and their 6 year old daughter, Emma, got along really well with Natalie. (Jani is Fred's colleague and the reason we are here now.) We drove to the shore on Saturday and really liked walking on the boardwalk. We still have some more shore-sights to see before we really decide how we feel about it. It is a little far from us and we have not found that perfect destination yet. On Sunday we visited Laurent and his wife Sachi. They took the train from NYC to see us for a lunch in Princeton. That afternoon we went to Pennsylvania and had drinks and appetizers in the cute town of New Hope.

Other than the weekend of fun and adventures we have been establishing a life around here. I have contacted the director of our town's preschool and will meet her tomorrow. I also found that our playgroup today was down the street from our new house! We met some really nice moms and kids and are excited that they live so close!

I love all of your comments and miss you all!

Hello from Jersey

Hi Everyone!
This is our first week in New Jersey and we are all really enjoying it here. It is amazing how beautiful and historic it is here. We are staying in the town of Cranbury and when we walk down main street there are houses from the 1800s alongside ice cream shops and pizzerias. There are green trees everywhere and rivers, lakes and farms.

The hotel we are staying in is very comfortable. It has a living room and kitchen and on either side are doors to bedrooms with bathrooms attached. Phoebe hides out and only had one hard night. The girls are both sleeping really well! We did have to separate them, so Natalie sleeps on the sofa bed in the living room.

The flight was much better than we expected. Everyone did wonderfully and we could not have asked for more. The girls slept a little bit and Phoebe was quiet. We flew into JFK in New York, but might try Newark or Philadelphia because JFK is a bit of a crowded mess. We didn't suffer, but the line of planes on the runway waiting for take off was huge!

Our hopes of being first time home buyers are also moving forward. Our loan is approved! The current owner should be fixing up the house for us and we look forward to a closing date at the end of the month. Once we get keys we will send our new address. For the moment we have a PO Box in Princeton. Email me if you need the address!

Fred is getting busier at work. We see him for lunch right now which is a treat. The girls and I stay busy exploring the area. We have found parks to play at and even met a friend. We also are in contact with a new playgroup which we hope to join soon. Today we attended story time at Barnes and Noble and found a great mall with all those rich stores like Anthropologie and Pottery Barn. I am excited to at least get ideas for decorating the new house. Affording those ideas will be another story.

Of course we miss our family and friends. We send our love and hope you check our updates soon.

Love and kisses!
