Letters!

This weekend Natalie wrote her first letters all by herself. She loves the letters N for Natalie, M for Maman, P for Papa and O. She also surprised us by writing the letter A. We are proud of her!

Apple Day!

It was recently Apple Day! We went to the orchard to eat some delicious pork sandwiches and see the Fall harvest sights. There was a spit with a pig roasting, candied and caramel apples, pumpkin painting and apple picking. We mostly wandered around just to check it all out. We will go back to pick pumpkins and gather more apples.

Lilly's on the Canal

Last night was really nice since Fred and I had our first date night in six months! Our babysitter did a good job and the kids were happy and taken care of. Her name is Lauren and she is almost 16 and lives next door. It is nice that her family is just next door because it is added security for when we are gone.

We went to Lilly's on the Canal in Lambertville. It sits on the canal that runs parallel to the Delaware River. I really liked Lilly's and thought the food was great. Fred and I shared eggplant fries and I had filet mignon and creme brulee for dessert! We also shared some red wine. After, we went across the street to the Inn and had a drink. I loved being out at night, eating a meal without messes and having some nice, quality time with Fred.

Albino Squirrel

Yesterday I wrote about all the wildlife in our backyard. Today, I was shocked to see this white squirrel climbing down a tree in our front yard! He is all white and has red eyes. Quite an interesting creature!

Critters

This is our backyard groundhog! I guess they are also called woodchucks. Either way, I had never seen one before living here. He lives in our demolished pony barn in the backyard. He likes to come to the neighbor's yard to soak up some sun and nibble on clover. He is cute and fat and waddles away when he senses danger.

We also have a new resident bunny! He likes to sit in a natural shelter outside our bathroom window. I try to bring him carrots, but I don't think he really cares. The carrots dissapear, but I never see bunny eating them.

One day I was eating lunch and we had six turkeys, five deer and squirrels all in the back yard. It was quite a sight! Sometimes it feels like a Bambi movie here.

September So Far

The weather is changing and the leaves are just starting to turn color. I have read that mid-October will be brilliant and I cannot wait to take pictures of the foliage! We plan to go up to Boston around that time to see my friend, Jenny. In the meantime, we are still enjoying the apple harvest and we even cut our own flowers for this bouquet at Terhune Orchards. It's pretty cool that they offer scissors and charge 25 cents per flower.

Natalie started preschool this past week. She goes 3 afternoons a week from 12:45-3:15; M, T, and TH. She seems really happy at school.

Chloe and I have our time together, but I am sort of struggling with nap schedules and how to work preschool into our lives. I hope in a month's time we will have a better routine and everyone will be rested!

As a family, we have been to Philadelphia and seen the historical sights. Philadelphia is very close to us and walking around Independence Park is a definite possibility for any visitor interested! We also have the Delaware River and Delaware Canal nearby. It is a beautiful setting for walks. And, we've been riding out some of the latest hurricanes/tropical storms. Luckily, that means our garden is lush and green!

I am doing really well and enjoying all the friends I have met here.
I organized a Mom's Night Out and we went to Triumph Brewery in Princeton. It was a lot of fun and the next night out is already being planned. We also see each other at playdates, the park and lunch. It feels good to have people around whom I trust. Especially, because Fred already has some business trips at the end of the month and early October in Texas.

Finally, I am so thrilled that Hannah and Andrea had their beautiful baby girls. I wish both families the best and I cannot wait to see the beauties in person!
